In one the halls I use to attend, the sound system picked up an AM radio broadcast of what sounded liked a Mexican bull fight - funny as hell!

Did your KH sound system ever pick up CB radio?
by MungoBaobab ini remember mine did, way back in the early- to mid-80's.
it was always funny to all of a sudden hear a trucker hollering out the f-word in the middle of the service meeting!
man, if could only imagine the deer-in-the-headlights look of panic in the eyes of the elders.

Can someone help with Assembly locations in Norco and Los Angeles?
by hlaim ini'm a former witness (attended when i was young but never baptized).
the assembly halls that i attended (besides dodger stadium) were one in norco and what had to be a historic "play house/theatre" in a bad area of la.
what i remember.... norco: facing the stage, i remember murals on the right upper wall.

Hey there,
I remember going to that old L.A. theater myself when I was a kid - it was called the Leimert Theater and was in an area of L.A. called Leimert Park (believe it was near Crenshaw and Slauson Ave). Anyway here's a link to a web site that has the exact address and some photos (this should bring back some memories)!

They give a short history of the theater even mentioning that it was "closed to films in the early 1980s to become a Jehovah's Witness Hall for many years". They must have been misinformed because I remember going there for district assemblies during the early 70's (oops, guess I'm dating myself here)! BTW, there once a rumor (i.e. JW urban legand) going around way back then that a brother was way up on the theater tower doing some kind of maintenance (painting, or ???) and accidentally fell - supposedly he survived without any injuries at all because he 'floated' safely down to the ground via the help of Jehovah's 'angels'. Enjoy!

A friend of mine sent me an audio file of the kingdom melody "Life Everlasting at Last" that was supposedly covered by Prince. I don't know where he got it from, but I have no reason to doubt it was Prince (the lead guitar work sounds like his playing). No singing though - just an instrumental version. Very bizarre hearing a pop artist cover a JW tune. Hey, maybe he'll do some funk versions of some of the the other songs and release them on his next ablum?

Worst songs you ever heard
by Nosferatu inwhat are some of the worst songs you've ever heard?
here's a list of mine: .
the memory remains - metallica.

Think I have to agree with you on that one! But I can recall a few more from the song book that were just as bad if not worse (just can't remember the titles). To me it was pretty obvious that whoever wrote some of these songs had little or no experience with song writing!

So sorry to hear of your loss - I lost my father to cancer in 1997 so I certainly know what you're going through. Even though this is an extremely difficult time for you, try to keep in mind that the day will come where thinking of your father will bring smiles to you again.

Tower Man - any chance you would happen to have Carl's email address? I use to be in his congregation and was a good friend of his son - would sure like to get in touch with him again.

Has Anyone Ever Met Any Celebrities?
by imallgrowedup inthis is a spin-off of another thread where my *mild and chaste* friend, mouthy, admitted to wanting to meet her dream man, tom jones, and that she would even go so far as to throw her bloomers at him, if that is what it would take to get his attention!
well, the mental picture this painted was far too much for me to bear, so i encouraged her to save her red polka-dotted "unmentionables", not only because she might need them in the future, but because i didn't think she'd have to go that far to get his attention.
and i said that - because of a personal experience with him.

I met Mark Mothersbaugh (former lead singer for Devo and in-demand music composer) back in the mid-80's at the Beverly Center (big mall in Beverly Hills). I recognized him in the mall and went up to introduce myself - he was really nice and we ended up chatting with him for about 10 minutes or so.
